Sofia, 10/03/2027

Sofia, get ready to welcome André Rieu once again — on Wednesday, 10 March 2027, the world-famous violinist and conductor will return to Arena 8888 Sofia with his beloved Johann Strauss Orchestra for another spectacular evening of music, romance and celebration. Beginning at 19:30, the concert continues a remarkable relationship between Rieu and his Bulgarian audience, which has made Sofia one of the most enthusiastic stops on his European tours.

André Rieu’s return to Bulgaria comes with an impressive history behind it. According to the local organisers, his concerts in the country have sold out for eight consecutive years, attracting more than 160,000 spectators in total. It is a remarkable connection, built over years of performances in which Bulgarian audiences have embraced Rieu’s unique combination of classical music, entertainment and genuine warmth.

For the 2027 concert, André Rieu will once again be joined by his 60-member Johann Strauss Orchestra, bringing a new programme to Sofia. Audiences can expect a colourful musical journey through opera, musicals, famous film music, traditional melodies, beloved classical works and, of course, the joyful waltzes that have made Rieu famous around the world.

But an André Rieu concert is never simply about the music. Elaborate costumes, impressive scenery and carefully designed lighting turn the performance into a complete visual experience, while Rieu’s humour and spontaneous interaction with the audience create moments that can make a vast arena feel surprisingly intimate. The Bulgarian organisers describe the show as an approximately three-hour programme, filled with music, emotion and unexpected moments.

The setting will once again be Arena 8888 Sofia, the Bulgarian capital’s major indoor arena and a familiar home for André Rieu’s large-scale performances. With a potential concert configuration of approximately 17,900 spectators, the venue has the scale required for the orchestra, elaborate stage production and thousands of fans who gather to experience the spectacle together.

There is also a special Bulgarian connection on stage. Kremena Mineva, a Bulgarian musician, has served as first violin in Rieu’s orchestra for 28 years, adding another personal link between the Johann Strauss Orchestra and its audience in Sofia. The orchestra itself brings together musicians and soloists from more than 18 countries.

The 10 March 2027 concert also begins an interesting part of Rieu’s spring touring schedule. Two days after Sofia, he is scheduled to perform in Athens on 12 March, followed by a concert in Bahrain on 19 March. Sofia therefore becomes the opening stop of this March sequence on the current 2027 tour calendar.

For fans travelling from elsewhere in Bulgaria or neighbouring countries, the concert is also an opportunity to spend an early-spring evening in Sofia. The city’s mixture of historic architecture, cafés, restaurants and mountain backdrop makes it easy to turn the performance into a short cultural getaway.

What ultimately brings audiences back, however, is the atmosphere inside the arena. André Rieu has built his career around making orchestral music feel emotional, accessible and alive. A delicate violin passage can be followed by a sweeping waltz; a familiar melody can suddenly have thousands of people singing or swaying together. The boundary between performer and audience gradually disappears, leaving behind the sense of a shared celebration.

Tickets for the 10 March 2027 Sofia concert are already on sale, with the local venue currently listing prices between €60 and €130. Given Rieu’s extraordinary history of sold-out performances in Bulgaria, fans looking for particular seating areas may want to secure their places early.

Whether you have attended André Rieu’s previous Sofia concerts or are preparing to experience the Johann Strauss Orchestra live for the first time, 10 March 2027 at Arena 8888 Sofia promises another evening filled with beautiful music, laughter, romance and the unmistakable joy that has made Rieu such a favourite with Bulgarian audiences.

Don’t miss your chance — secure your Sofia tickets and experience André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra live at Arena 8888 Sofia on 10 March 2027.
