André Rieu is back on the Vrijthof on Thursday, 15 July 2027, opening the second half of this year’s run of Maastricht summer concerts after a short break in the schedule. The show begins at 19:00, with the square once again transformed into an open-air concert setting.
By this point in the summer series, word of mouth from the earlier dates has usually built even more anticipation, and this second wave of Maastricht shows tends to draw just as strong a crowd as the opening nights. Fans returning for a second visit are just as common as those seeing the show for the first time.
The programme continues to showcase the full Rieu experience: sweeping Strauss waltzes, operatic highlights, popular film themes and beloved classics, staged with elaborate costumes, dramatic lighting and the theatrical flair that has made these evenings a fixture of the European summer concert calendar. Guest vocalists and instrumentalists typically join the Johann Strauss Orchestra throughout.
Het Vrijthof is reconfigured each summer into a temporary open-air venue holding roughly 10,000 to 12,000 people, surrounded by the historic churches and cafés that give the square its distinctive character.
With the concert beginning at 19:00, arriving in good time to take in the atmosphere of the square is part of the evening. Performances typically run for about two and a half hours, including a short interval.
Maastricht’s walkable historic centre and riverside setting reward a longer stay, making this an easy concert to build a short summer break around, particularly with several more dates still to come in the same run.
This 15 July date opens the second stretch of Maastricht performances, continuing across the following days as part of the same annual summer series that has become one of the highlights of Rieu’s touring calendar.
