Liverpool, prepare for an extraordinary Friday evening of music, romance and celebration — on 8 October 2027, André Rieu and his world-renowned Johann Strauss Orchestra will return to M&S Bank Arena for a spectacular concert on the city’s famous waterfront. Beginning at 19:30, this eagerly anticipated performance promises an unforgettable combination of elegant waltzes, emotional melodies and the joyful atmosphere that has made the Dutch violinist one of the world’s most beloved live entertainers.

Liverpool has always held a special place in British musical culture, making it a fitting destination for an artist who has spent decades bringing people together through music. Known internationally as the “King of the Waltz,” André Rieu has transformed traditional orchestral performances into colourful celebrations where classical masterpieces meet popular favourites, theatrical spectacle and genuine audience interaction.

For his 2027 return, Rieu will be accompanied by his magnificent 70-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra, together with a choir and outstanding soloists. Audiences can look forward to a wonderfully varied programme featuring romantic Viennese waltzes, beloved classical compositions, memorable film music, opera favourites and songs from popular musicals. Beautiful costumes, atmospheric lighting and elaborate staging will add another dimension to an evening designed to entertain audiences of every generation.

The concert takes place at M&S Bank Arena, located at Kings Dock on Liverpool’s historic waterfront. Opened in 2008, the arena has become one of the city’s leading entertainment destinations, welcoming major international performers and large-scale productions. Its waterfront location, close to the Royal Albert Dock and the River Mersey, provides a particularly attractive setting for visitors planning an evening of music in Liverpool.

For André Rieu, however, the true magic begins when the orchestra starts to play. His performances are famous for their ability to create a surprisingly intimate atmosphere inside enormous arenas. A gentle violin melody can bring a moment of quiet emotion, while the opening notes of a familiar Strauss waltz can suddenly have thousands of spectators smiling, clapping and swaying together.

The 8 October 2027 Liverpool concert forms part of a busy autumn schedule across the United Kingdom. Rieu and his orchestra are scheduled to perform in Newcastle on Thursday, 7 October, before arriving in Liverpool for Friday’s concert and continuing to Leeds on Saturday, 9 October. This sequence gives audiences across northern England several opportunities to experience his latest touring production.

Liverpool itself offers plenty of reasons to turn the concert into a memorable weekend away. Visitors can explore the historic Royal Albert Dock, discover the city’s remarkable musical heritage or enjoy the restaurants and cafés around the waterfront before making their way to M&S Bank Arena. With the venue situated close to the city centre, the concert can easily become the highlight of a relaxing autumn visit.

André Rieu’s remarkable international success is built on a simple idea: orchestral music should be enjoyed by everyone. Rather than maintaining the formality traditionally associated with classical concerts, he encourages audiences to laugh, sing and share their emotions. His performances combine exceptional musicianship with humour, warmth and a sense of celebration that transcends language and cultural boundaries.

With more than 40 million albums sold worldwide and hundreds of thousands of concertgoers attending his performances annually, Rieu remains one of the most successful touring classical musicians of his generation. His continued popularity in Britain reflects the strong connection he has developed with audiences who return year after year to experience the Johann Strauss Orchestra live.
