André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra arrive at Leipzig’s Quarterback Immobilien Arena on Wednesday, 26 May 2027, opening a short late-May run through eastern Germany that continues to Chemnitz and Erfurt on the two evenings that follow. The concert begins at 19:30.
Leipzig has a strong classical music heritage of its own, home to the Gewandhaus Orchestra and centuries of musical tradition, which makes it a fitting stop for a touring production built around grand orchestral sound. Rieu’s shows draw a different crowd to a typical Gewandhaus evening, but the city’s appetite for live orchestral music runs deep either way.
The programme built for these arena dates usually mixes sweeping Strauss waltzes with operatic favourites, well-loved film themes and a run of popular classics, staged with elaborate costumes, lighting design and the kind of theatrical touches that have made the show recognisable well beyond classical music circles.
